Checklist for your Makeup Trial

Wedding season is just around the corner and trials are key in making sure you are confident and look your best on the wedding day!

Shepard wanted a healthy glow with pale pink lip. makeupbyamykennison.com
Her look was timeless and soft...perfect for a summer wedding.
I used MAC Angel lipstick and Becca Opal hilite to creat the glow.

1. Book a makeup artist 6 months to a year in advance. Do your research...word of mouth is always wonderful! Make sure you check the artist website, does their work reflect your personal style?
Read the bio....how many years have they been a makeup artist.
More importantly read customer reviews...this is the tell all regarding service, artistry skills and communication.
Its important your artist respond promptly to emails and follows up after the trial.

2. Schedule your trial at least 3 weeks out, but no earlier than 6 months prior to the wedding.
Your artist should be happy to modify the look if you decide on something more natural or dramatic. Make sure you have a mirror in hand during the trial. Be sure to check the makeup in natural daylight in addition to indoor lighting.

3. Bring photos to your makeup trial. Start by looking at images you like...make sure you have a similar skin tone to the image.

4.Take photos after the trail. The artist should be happy to change the look to make sure you feel
confident!

Don't leave unhappy...speak up! You are the one who has to wear the look so it has to be perfect!

5.Preparing your skin for the big day...you want a healthy glow when you walk down the isle.
I recommend scheduling a series facials 6 months prior to the wedding. Avoids treatments, peels, laser or micro derm too close to the wedding day.

6. Makeup doesn't have to be caked on in order for it to show up in photos. ...most wedding photos are taken in natural light so if you choose a heavy matte base it will be obvious.

7.Prepare for touch ups on the wedding day.
You will need a lip stick and translucent powder. Have the artist recommend a shade similar to the one used at your trial. I love MAC Blot powder for shine control.
