3rd Annual Gatsby Gala Presented by Jess James at City Club Wilmington,NC

The 1920s-1940s is my favorite time period for makeup!
When I was asked to play makeup for this event I did not hesitate...
For Me, this was playtime! A chance to test my skill set and learn how to perfect period makeup.

I wanted to create a modern version by using less foundation and powder.
For flawless coverage with a smooth creamy finish my go to is MAC Studio Sculpt foundation set with Serenity+ Scott Powder Foundation http://serenityscottbeauty.com . The sculpt looks and feels like skin and the powder foundation is light absorbing perfect for photos and film!

The eyes are a deep chocolate burgundy and black with silver pearl.....
The trick to creating dimension with shadow is to use a cream shadow and layer a powder shadow with shimmer (pearlized particles, glitter) on top then spritz with a mist like Urban Decay All Nighter or even water!

On the lips I skipped liner and used lip conditioner followed by 2 layers of lipstick (MAC Party line and Film Noir Lipstick). For a matte finish try placing a tissue over your mouth then dust with a loose powder.  I hope you can use these techniques for your next soiree.... or you can just book an appointment with me for parties and special event events!

A BIG Thank you goes out to Lisa Brown of http://Bellarosephoto.com for capturing these beautiful images and Jess James http://stylegirljessjames.com for creating an Amazing Event!!
